Energy Outreach Colorado WordPress Website

Project Overview

Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) approached T29 for a website redesign to altogether solve multiple issues in their current site. Upon assessment, we found that they needed a better content structure and information layout that would make it efficient for their users, being mostly low-to-moderate income households, to use and get the financial assistance they need. This was challenging due to the amount of content that they have and for the unclear process to access the assistance programs they offer. The overall goal was to solve these issues and deliver an effective website.

Outcomes

The collaboration between EOC and three29 resulted in:

Site & Information Architecture: We redesigned the sitemap with a clear hierarchy, organizing information under major category umbrellas to make navigation intuitive from the start. This structure is reflected in the header and footer, prioritizing high-traffic areas and guiding users efficiently to key pages like “Get Help.”

Content Layout Overhaul: Content was restructured into a clear, linear format to guide users seamlessly through each section. Calls to action were strategically placed for visibility and relevance, ensuring users have a clear path to follow and engage with the site’s offerings.

Improved Site Management and Performance: The new WordPress site is designed to be faster and more user-friendly, benefiting both visitors and the client. With a streamlined structure, the site is easier to manage and accommodates current and future content effortlessly.

Project Scope

The scope of this project was to redesign EOC’s website to address usability and accessibility issues, particularly for low-to-moderate income users seeking financial assistance. Key objectives included restructuring content and navigation to make the site more intuitive, improving the content layout to guide users effectively, and enabling better site management for the client. By following a structured design and development process, we delivered a streamlined, accessible site that offers a seamless user experience and supports easy content updates and future growth.

How We Made It Happen

Project Assessment Phase – this comprised of an initial assessment that included a review of the following: site interface, parallel organizations from different states, site architecture

Design Phase – this involved parsing the assessments gathered and overhauling the information to display in a linear and consistent manner across all detail pages. This also involved streamlining the navigation both in the header and footer in a functional and hierarchical interface.

Development Phase – We used system that enables us to produce numerous pages to match their content. This system allowed the client to edit and append any content to their site. This phase also involved the adherence to ADA compliance, site’s proper display in mobile screens, sustained peak site performance, and optimum site security standards.

Pre-Launch Phase – A meticulous approach to testing and quality assurance was taken to verify that the site’s functionality, performance, and security aligned with industry-leading standards.

Results

The project delivered a streamlined, user-focused website, shaped by a rigorous assessment of site architecture, interface, and industry peers. Design efforts prioritized clear, consistent information presentation across pages and efficient navigation. The development phase introduced a flexible system allowing easy content updates by the client, with an emphasis on ADA compliance, mobile compatibility, peak performance, and security. Rigorous testing ensured the site met top industry standards for functionality and reliability, resulting in a robust, accessible, and high-performing final product.
