Since being deployed twice, once to Iraq and once to Kosovo, Brent has settled back into civilian life as a dad and web developer. That is, when he’s not busy being the current S-6 Section Chief for the 223rd Military Intelligence Battalion out of San Francisco!
Brent has been a developer at Three29 for more than two years, where he’s been an instrumental member of the team on some of our recent web and app rebuilds. We caught up with Brent to learn more about how his 11-year military background lead him to a career in web development.
Influences in Brent’s Life
To Continue to Learn – The programming world is ever-changing and you have to always be learning or you will be left behind.
Playing Racquetball – I am not sure if this really helps me at my job. But it helps me stay in some sort of shape.
The Military – I am a Communications NCO for the California National Guard. With the training and knowledge that I have gained from the military, I am able to stay current in the network and systems side of the house.
Brent’s Fundamental Strengths
Willing to learn – I am always looking for new things to learn. I always want to be the best at what I do.
Helping others – I enjoy helping others wherever I can. Whether it’s in the office and helping my coworkers work through an issue, or in my civic duty with the National Guard.
Some of Brent’s Favorite Things
Family – My family is the main priority in my life.
Racquetball – I am a big racquetball guy. If I’m not working or with my family, I am most likely on a racquetball court.
Military – I love my military family.

Brent’s Spotify Playlist
I am not a big music person. I pretty much will listen to anything, but if I had to choose I would say that I am into 90-00 Rap, R&B, and country music. I am a big Zac Brown Band fan.
Brent’s Go-To Resources for Industry News
I always refer to the documentation of whatever I am working on.
However, if you can not find the answer there then Stackoverflow almost always helps me find the answer that I’m looking for.
Brent’s Must-Have Apps
My must-have app is PhpStorm. As a PHP developer, PhpStorm has changed my life. It is the best IDE out there for PHP developers.
Brent’s WFH Set-Up
Extra monitors and good laptop!
I recently bought a 32in. ultra-wide monitor to go with my new M1 MacBook Pro and love it.
